The best defence is a good offence

You’ve probably heard people say

The best defence is a good offence!

But actually, Jesus said that if you live violently you’ll die violently. The best defence is probably nothing to do with fighting your adversary, but rather loving them. As a best case scenario, they’ll return the favour – and you both win. Worst case scenario, you love them, and they take advantage of you. Which sucks, true, but at least you’re behaving like God, and that is probably more important than winning anyway.

Totally agree with you. In college I had a classmate who hated my guts till I found Paul’s lesson in Romans 12 about this. I started doing good to this person, and today we are friends. I actually don’t mind still calling this strategy a good offense however—you’re just playing a different game than what your enemy wants to play. Like filling the net full of pucks while your opponent is attempting free-throws at the hoop. :)
